About
Centre Culturel Frontenac, established in 1978, stands as Kingston's premier Francophone cultural hub, dedicated to celebrating and promoting the arts and culture in French. Whether it's through music, theatre, dance, or other artistic expressions, we curate a diverse array of shows tailored for French speakers and enthusiasts alike. Collaborating with local organizations, we strive to deliver unforgettable experiences.
History
The Centre Frontenac was founded in 1978 to unite and meet the cultural and community demands of the francophones in the Kingston area. The first employee Gabrielle Gosselin ‘s mandate was to unite, coordinate and serve the francophone community, as well as to obtain and provide human, technical, and financial resources.
In June 1980, the Centre social et culturel Frontenac is officially founded. In 1982, the CCF purchases the home century old home of one of its members on Frontenac Road, on 520 Frontenac Street.
In 1996, the CCF moves into its new location: the school community centre, a centre that houses Marie-Rivier Public Secondary School and the Octave Theatre (711 Dalton Avenue) where it has been every since. Today, the cultural center mission is to serve an inclusive and dynamic Francophone community, gathered to celebrate arts and culture in French. Thirty five years after its official creation, the center offers close to 15 events (professional and community), continue publishing the unique local French newspaper (32 years) among his numerous services.
Mission
To gather and unite the Francophone and Francophile community in the greater Kingston and Thousand Islands region, by celebrating and enhancing the arts and culture in French.
Vision
The Centre culturel Frontenac, rich in its trendy and quality programming accomplishments, boosts confidence in the future of a visible, vibrant and proactive Francophone community in Ontario and Canada.
