Le Sésame Theater
The Centre culturel Frontenac is proud to collaborate on the Scène Afrofranco project, led by L'Alliance nationale de l'industrie musicale (ANIM). This initiative aims to introduce young Francophones of African origin or descent, who are passionate about music, to the full process of designing, producing, and presenting a musical performance.
The Centre culturel Frontenac, ANIM, and the entire Scène Afrofranco cohort are pleased to present Rythmes croisés featuring:
Kimya (Opening act)
Originally from Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kimya moved to Ottawa in 2004. Quickly drawn to various creative realms, he immersed himself in visual arts, breakdancing, and photography, all of which allowed him to channel his thirst for creation. He soon discovered a passion for words and writing, giving rise to his first texts.
Through his poetry, Kimya builds a world shaped by lived experiences, dreams, and a desire to create a space of peace and escape. A semi-finalist at the Festival international de la chanson de Granby in 2017, he released his first EP Or & Flamme that same year, which went on to win the 2019 Trille Or award in the Discovery category.
Joyce N’sana is the voice of Afrobluehop. Originally known for her Reggae she now presents a music that is a tasty mix of Afro-blues and Hip-hop. The Radio-Canada Revelation 2021-2022 who grew in the context of the Congolese wars delivers a clear and determined message, she spreads an art of peace.
An African dance performance and light refreshments are also part of the evening.
To make this show more accessible to different communities, we’ve set up a pay-what-you-can ticket option starting at $2.
