On Friday, May 23, 2025, the Centre culturel Frontenac had the great pleasure of presenting Nickel City Fifs, a Sudbury-based theatrical comedy that was both touching and hilarious, exploring queer relationships across multiple generations of Franco-Ontarians.
Presented for the first time at Le Sésame in a cabaret-style setup, this event also marked a first in our programming: a show entirely dedicated to queer Franco-Ontarian experiences.
Before the main performance, the audience was treated to an electrifying act by Sherry Anne Hex, a local drag queen with a magnetic stage presence. Her number was so sharp and dazzling, you’d hardly guess it was a lip sync!
The evening ended with some lovely exchanges between the artists and the audience, extending the generous and festive energy that filled the room.
A heartfelt thank you to the cast of Nickel City Fifs, producers Alex Tétreault and Théâtre du Nouvel-Ontario, to Sherry Anne Hex for her incredible opening act, to our co-presenter Les Tréteaux de Kingston, to our partners ACFOMI, Réseau Ontario, and Les Voyagements, as well as our guests KIP, Georgie Gagné and ReelOut.
And of course, thank you to our wonderful audience and our dedicated volunteers 💜

🙏 A heartfelt thank-you as well to our partners and funders for their continued support throughout the season.
