On the occasion of World Theatre Day, Centre culturel Frontenac had the pleasure of welcoming Auréo et Lunette, a dynamic performance that captivated audiences with its energy, humour, and creativity.
Inspired by the traditions of commedia dell’arte, the piece revisits this rich theatrical heritage while embracing a distinctly contemporary approach. Masks, physical theatre, and lively rhythms were all part of the experience—modernized through current technical elements and themes that resonate with today’s audiences.
The troupe Qu’en dit Raton, who travelled for the occasion, delivered a generous and accessible performance, successfully making audiences laugh, reflect, and come together across generations. Their inventive interpretation highlights how classical forms can continue to evolve and connect with new audiences.
This event would not have been possible without the invaluable support of our volunteers, as well as the collaboration of our co-presenters, Les Tréteaux de Kingston, whose contribution was essential to the evening’s success. We would also like to acknowledge Théâtre Action for their beautiful video highlighting this day dedicated to the performing arts.
We would also like to note that students from École secondaire catholique Sainte-Marie-Rivier had the opportunity to attend a school matinée thanks to the PassepART program by the Fédération culturelle canadienne-française (FCCF).
Beyond the performance itself, the evening was a true celebration of theatre as a space for connection, expression, and shared experience. It reminds us of the vitality and importance of the performing arts in our communities.
