Subject: Progress of the construction work of the new Marie-Rivier Catholic secondary school in Kingston in anticipation of the opening at the start of the 2023-2024 school year
Dear parents, guardians,
The CECCE is pleased to announce that construction work on the future Marie-Rivier Catholic Secondary School is well underway and that the premises will be ready to welcome students at the start of the 2023-2024 school year. For just over 21 months, construction has been progressing at a good pace.
Progress
Wing of gymnasiums, workshops, specialized premises and theatre:
- The exterior envelope (walls and roof) is 98% complete.
- The concrete bases for the lockers have been poured.
- Painting of the walls and ceilings continues, as well as the installation of lights, dust collector (construction workshop) and wiring for network, security and fire alarms.
CECCE wing, including its daycare center and the EarlyON Centre:
- Exterior wall cladding is 90% complete.
- The roofing work is 98% complete.
- The construction of the interior walls, the installation of the interior windows and the mechanical and electrical services are continuing.
- The installation of doors and frames, the painting of the walls on the first floor and the cabling of the network, security and fire alarms have begun.
City park
- The construction of the park is 92% complete. This will be interrupted shortly for the winter and will resume in the spring or summer of 2023, when the ground has dried sufficiently.
- When work resumes in 2023, all that remains is to finalize weeding, adding topsoil, seeding and commissioning the water play area.
As you can see, work is progressing and we are getting closer to the final realization of this long-awaited project by the community. The completion of the work is scheduled for June 2023. I could not be more enthusiastic to know that the students will be able, as of next August, to integrate state-of-the-art facilities to continue their learning.
