On Friday, February 6 at Le Sésame Theater, audiences discovered Ça rime avec vinaigre, a work that is both intimate and powerful, inspired by a true story. What begins as an ordinary incident in a schoolyard quickly triggers a series of decisions that raise important questions. On stage, a mother’s voice unfolds with strength as she defends her 7-year-old son and sheds light on deeper issues of listening, justice, and representation.

Through inventive staging that blends theatre, poetry, slam, and documentary elements, the performance sensitively conveyed a complex reality without ever becoming didactic. The audience was attentive, often moved, sometimes surprised, and always engaged.

Presented as part of Black History Month, Ça rime avec vinaigre reminded us of the importance of creating spaces where stories that are too often overlooked can be told, heard, and understood. Thank you to the artists for this sincere offering and to the audience for showing up.
