In Grade 2, 7-year-old Donny has an argument with a classmate during recess. This schoolyard conflict triggers a series of events with adults that rise all the way up to the top of the school board, and test the resilience of Donny and his family in the face of injustice.

In the play, RHYMES WITH VINEGAR, a solo show that links the intimate with the political, told from the bold point of view of the author, his mother, willing to do anything to protect her child. She uses codes of TED Talk, poetry, slam and documentary theater that intertwine to deliver a tumultuous and dizzying tale.

A “David-and-Goliathesque” true story, RHYMES WITH VINEGAR lifts the veil on the insidious nature of anti-black racism in schools and highlights the systemic inequalities that persist in our society.
