Since 2012, “Feuilles vives” has shone light on franco-ontarian writers and performers. This year, the city of Kingston and the Centre culturel Frontenac had the honor of hosting the 7th edition of this marvelous festival.
We had the chance to see many performances and laboratories created by a handful of franco-ontarian artists. I had the opportunity to interview dedicated members of Kingstons francophone community to get their perspective on the experience.
Naseeb Ahseek, artistic coordinator for the Centre culturel Frontenac had this to say about the experience: “It’s a nice occasion to be able to see unpublished performances and to share one’s opinions. It’s also nice to be able to meet the actors and writers behind the pieces.” He also shared with me his favorite part about the weekend. “The best part was to see how the performances differ in production and how the authors were able to get feedback from the audience. It’s exciting to know how the shows will develop over time.”
Latré Lawson, employee of the Réseau de Soutien à l’immigration francophone de l’Est de l’Ontario shared her perspective on the performances, “It’s an event that congregated the francophone community due to their rich programming which allowed us to discover new shows.”
