Summer student job opportunity - Communications assistant


WEEKLY WORK HOUR: 30 hours/week

JOB STATUS: 8 week contract

SALARY: $14.00/hour

Organization description:

The Centre culturel Frontenac (CCF) is a hub for francophone arts and culture. It is inclusive, unifying and a creative driving force inside the community. Its young and dynamic team puts the emphasis on creating a unique artistic experience uniting the artists and the publics. The CCF owns a professional theatre and hosts 12 to 15 shows per year. The CCF also edits and publishes the only francophone magazine in the region, L’Informel.


Position description:

Under the executive director’s immediate supervision and in close collaboration with them, and in accordance with statutes and regulations, as well the Centre’s internal policies, the communications assistant contributes to creating and implementing communications and public relations strategies for the Centre.



  • Assist the executive director and the artistic coordinator in building a communications plan for the 2018-2019 artistic season ;
  • Create original content (copy, video, audio, etc.) for the website, social media, the newsletter and the magazine L’Informel ;
  • Write press releases and show programs ;
  • Publicize the CCF’s events inside the community ;
  • Other required tasks.



  • The candidate must have been a full time student during the 2018 Winter term and to plan on going back to full time studies in Fall 2018 ;
  • The candidate must be enrolled in a secondary, postsecondary, vocational or technical education program ;
  • The candidate must be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident or a person who was granted protection as a refugee under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act ;
  • The candidate must have the right to work legally under Ontario’s laws and regulations ;
  • The candidate cannot have a criminal record related to the position ;
  • The candidate must be aged from 15 to 30 inclusively, at the beginning of the contract.


Skills and experience :

  • Excellent writing abilities ;
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, Publisher, Wordpress, MailChimp, Photoshop
  • Social media skills : Facebook, Twitter, Instagram ;
  • Be autonomous, demonstrate initiative and ability to work with a team ;
  • Creativity, drive, reliability and organization skills ;
  • Mastery of spoken and written French or mastery of spoken and written English as well as knowledge of French ;
  • Ability to create video, photography and audio content (a plus).
